I think it is very important in any business to let people know exactly how hard it will be. The reason MLM has such high attrition rates is because too many people think they can "Fire your boss tomorrow". People need to know that is NOT the case. MLMers need to stop screaming that to all.

Frank is awesome. Straight forward and honest. How refreshing.

Priceless! I can understand why it worked for him and could work for others. It's like "I'm not taking you to raise. I here to help you, but you must do the work. If you're the hard worker who doesn't know the word quit, let's get started. If not, keep doing what you're doing and you'll keep get what you've been getting up to now."

In the Information Age, why anyone thinks making big income claims works anymore is beyond me.

Why not build your business the old fashion way - by getting customers?

(By the way, I think this is a great disclaimer.)

It HAS to be, Kim. The crackdowns of the FTC (along with a general trend in the marketing world to shift to a more authentic and genuine selling message) necessitate that we disclose properly.

As the internet has a permanent black and white record of your income claims, they were naturally the first to get cracked down on. This meant they were also the first to shift their messaging.

As time moves on, eventually an mlm promising income claims will get investigated by the FTC and we will have a shift in our messaging as well.

In addition, you need to be passionate about your product - meaning that they know that you would use it even if there was no profit motive and you were not also a rep.
If you can't honestly say this, it will be apparent that you are just recommending something so you can earn a commission. People know the difference!

I'm just going through your "Customer Enchilada" now - in 2012. I'm happy to report that my company (at least) seems to be tuned into "feelings" as a motivator for both the passionate use of the products and the willingness to share the opportunity.
And it's alright for men to express their feelings, too. Or as the company founder says, act on "promptings" (which doesn't sound too feminine to scare away men.)
