Comcast promises land it big fat lawsuit

Today, Comcast’s promises got them into trouble. They were sued for interfering with slowing down traffic between computers that share files…

“The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in Alameda County Superior Court, alleges Comcast misleads customers by promising “mind-blowing” speeds and “unfettered access” to the Internet in advertisements while hindering the use of certain applications such as peer-to-peer file sharing. It seeks unspecified money damages”

Who else is making promises they can’t or don’t keep?

What should Comcast put on the outside of THEIR box?

  • I happen to be very familiar with the art and science of claims.

When a company advertises that “no one performs better than us” that usually doesn’t mean they are the best. It generally means all the other competitors scored the same.

When they say “designed for . . .” that doesn’t necessarily mean it actually delivers. They just *tried* to make it do something.

Deceptive? Yes. But actually quite legal.

  • >’mind-blowing’…

Ah, perhaps many NM-ers use their services.

It’d certainly account for the brain-dead behavior so commonly displayed in this business.

And seriously, we’re ALL, at some point, whether intentional or unintended, making promises we fail to honor.
