The online world can’t stop talking about the Facebook “social ads” phenomenon.
But while thousands of people are madly writing and posting ads there, some can’t even get anyone to CLICK on them, much less call.
“I may have to change my ad and copy. It’s not particularly compelling,” writes super successful VC man Fred Wilson.
Hehehe. Ad copy is VERY hard to get right. What does he expect anyway? He said he spent “one or two minutes” writing it. Even Facebookers don’t just click on anything.
Check it out. Not one click on his lame ad copy yet!
So far my ad on Facebook has gotten 12 clicks. I’ll email him and offer to help him improve his ad copy. 🙂

Facebook is extremely unstable when it comes to advertising. Here’s why:
(1) It’s still very new, and Facebook is constantly changing the methods and rules.
(2) You can have ads run one day just fine, and the next be disabled for violation of terms. (Most of the time, you’ll be scratching your head, because they don’t specify what the problem was.)
(3) The time of day you run the ads and the demographic you set will have a massive impace on your results.
I think Facebook has potential, BUT you’ll need to be prepared to experiment quite a lot.
Also, keep in mind that Facebook is still mostly college kids. So, you’ll get a lot of clicks from bored kids avoiding homework. 🙂
