Is getting “more traffic” your real goal?

Traffic. Overrated?

Great post by Robert Scoble about a 14-year old with 45 million views, last count.

What matters more – the numbers of viewers –

Or fewer viewers – who are passionate about the thing you’re passionate about?

Writing about what turns you on, now we’re talking. It isn’t instant sales, but grows as readers realize you’re in it for more than the money.

See Scoble’s post here.

Traffic per se is so overrated.

  • Hi Kim,

Glad you included this post from Scoble blog. You remain cutting-edge 🙂

It is being virally distributed all over the internet as we speak. SO maybe it will be 54,000,000 hits by the end of the day 🙂

I laughed and laughed and laughed at the humorous portrayal of the life of young urban teens!

I would include the link as a humorous link or hot topic link at the end of an email or newsletter… as it addresses a LOT of topics in a funny yet seriously presentation at the same time.

And it gives credibility to connect with a highly respected blog such as Scoble’s.

This situation shows us how you do NOT have to pay for internet leads and exposure… which is something we are beating the drum about loudly now to our mentorees and industry newbies – who are often being raked over the financial coals to buy LOTS of expensive leads – when quality free leads can be gathered pretty easily.

Thanks for all you are doing, Kim. We appreciate YOU 🙂

    Happy FREEDOM Day!

  • Getting “more” targeted readers should be our goal. Why would it matter if my blog has even 300 daily readers if none of them are passionate about my words? It’s a loss for everyone and a waste of my time. I have tossed around the idea of some link referal sites but always decided it was not for me and my blog and business is doing okay without them. Could it be better? Of course and with time I will learn more and get where I want to be – in my words and passion.

  • Quality over quantity is what I say. More targeted traffic is ALWAYS better than more generic traffic who have no interest in what you are saying.
