Pauper nation?

Today I feel as though I’m part of a nation of paupers.

First I read a long sad commentary on hundreds of foreclosed homes in northern Florida, abandoned by their owners. The neighbors and cities are left with the fallout – vandals, broken windows, lawns uncared for, family dogs left behind…

The home paupers.

I read and talk with friends everyday about people (like me) who seem to have no time to do the things we REALLY want to do. I personally do so much admin and must do work each day that it’s only at the end of the day I get to write something that requires pondering and reflection – my two favorite mental activities.

We’re time paupers.

We all hear of the person with 2 extra jobs trying to make ends meet. Or networkers who thought NM would be the answer to their money woes – and fast – only they’re more in debt now than they were before they started their NM business. Or the sure-to-be-a-hit product launch that didn’t go anywhere…

The money paupers.

People who are overweight, stressed and tired all the time, whose dependence on the sweets, carbs and other instant happy meals and happy pills make things better for the moment, but worse as the years pass by. They put on more and more weight and get the usual IG nutrition-induced diseases like diabetes. (IG=instant gratification).

Food paupers.

Two of my nieces are saving money to go to Italy on a student exchange program. They have raise twice as much as their Italian friends who just stayed a week in their home. Because the value of the dollar has plummeted.

Pauper nation.

What should we do?

Are we (the NM industry) contributing to this trend?

Results so far here.

  • We’re a nation of consumers. Most of us consume more than we produce.

Astute readers can do the math . . .

And, network marketing has nothing to do with it.

  • I feel like I am a member of pauper nation every day that I go to work and leave my one year-old behind.

Unlike so many people, however, I have a light at the end of the tunnel. I have a vehicle to get me from where I am now, to where I’m going to be – working from full-time, along with my wife, and watching our one year-old grow up.

    Thankful,

  • Uncontrolled spending and debt has crippled our nation and contributed to the “pauper nation” condition. Are network marketers part of it…yes. We have a solution that others deserve to experience and when times are tough like now…it is vital to increase our efforts to reach out and be part of the solution.

  • Hmmm, what should we do? First, we need to get serious about educating our children about finances; working for someone else; and wise investing. I can’t change the minds of someone in the 30+ age range, but I still have time with my children, to make a difference.

No successful business owner got there without mental, physical and financial investment, and in some places, exhaustion.

I recently have plunged back into my MLM basics books and am amazed at the stories and what I came away with.

Maybe I am lucky because in 14 years in MLM, no one ever told me it was going to be easy (my sponsor and upline, that is.) 4 months into it, I knew it wasn’t going to be, so I learned to tune out those I heard saying it would.

The economy is tough right now, no doubt. Tomorrow, when I gas up, I’m sure I will pay over $5, for the first time.

Find the benefits in your own company to promote right now. SHOW people how to create an income right now and EACH day in their business.

Assist them by teaching and coaching and forget the paupers! Don’t be one….that’s the best way to create change!

    EXPECT Success!

  • Dear Kim,

We are a nation of unthankful whiners, that’s for sure.

We all tote around our own prosperity bucket. For some it is a 6 ounce dixie cup and for others it is a 55 gallon drum. Our believing and our expectations influence our buckets’ capacity.

Being positive and thankful, eliminates complaining and ingratitude.

We still live in the most prosperous and blessed country on the planet.

Be very careful about what you feed your mind and who you spend most of your time with. If you hang around paupers all the time, you are sure to begin acting and looking like one.

I refuse to participate in a recession.

    No pauper fleas for me,

  • Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump wrote about the depth of the problem -which isn’t confined to this country. In their book entitled “Why We Want You to be Rich -Two Men, One Message”, -the reason they want you to be rich is:

So you can be part of the solution instead of part of the problem.

They talk about the fact that American education does not include a financial education. They talk about the massive cross-section of the population that belongs to the Baby Boomer segment, the first of whom began retiring last year. Many pension systems and retirement funds have gone belly-up. Social Security system is on the ropes. The health care system in this country will be challenged in a big way.

They talk about the ‘entitlement mentality’ among Americans. Many people, if not directly affected yet, are aware, but comfort themselves with the notion that ‘the government will take care of us.’ It is the authors’ contention that the problem is too big to fix. It is not financially sustainable by our government.

They don’t pretend to know how YOU can become rich. They do lay out some important prerequisites that need to be met to accomplish any meaningful results. I found it a good read and an eye opener.

So, networkers, give yourselves a collective pat on the back. Because, succeed or fail, you are a part of the solution rather than a part of the problem.

As our good friend Theodore Roosevelt said, “Far better is it to dare mighty things, even though chequered by failure, than to dwell in that perpetual twilight that knows not victory or defeat.”

  • HOW TO SELL NORTH AMERICA DOWN THE RIVER!! It has been bugging me for some how North American and Europe are allowing all he resources and manufacturing to be sucked away to China or Asia.I had a gentleman siting in my kitchen talking about the new China he was part of.As we talked about some of my Inventions they wanted(New Cement made at 700 degrees F while Portland is made at 2350 F) and needed.I heard a sucking sound in my mind I saw a spinning whirl wind where all the minerals the companies producing them are are fools.Allowing the living of North America to be sucked up without a fight.Look up Google the advertiser offering good s are mostly Chinese and East Indian.North Americans are asleep at the switch taking a train ride to disaster taking your jobs of being manufacturer with with your government siting n front of the train.Waiting to have the train run over them all in the name of democratic fairness.Having been in situations of hand to hand combat. You survive or die where it was kill or be killed.North America is in an economic war and are to lazy or to blind to see where it s going. Baby it is kill or be killed economically.Asian interests is your economic enemy. They are beating all the North American fat cats in business to be replaced with often shoddy goods form overseas.Wake up your on the way to PAUPER HELL if you as the people do nothing.I walked away from 30 million on principle even though I needed it desperately for I felt the cold wind of economic doom coming.
