Pity Party

“They came to make a difference and wound up with their butts in the butter.” –Pity Party, Peggy Noonan in today’s Wall Street Journal.

She’s speaking of the current ruling class in Washington, DC. But it can easily be said of any ruling class anywhere, any party, any country. Actually, any business. Politics or, err, network marketing.

  • Ever hear the old saying, “Be careful who you associate with?”

Well, many, many local politicians go off to Washington, D.C. with the sincere intent of changing things and making a difference. Then they end up becoming like those with whom they associate.

For all intents and purposes, there is not a dime’s worth of difference between the Democrats and the Republicans. It no longer seems to matter which party is in control, no real change takes place at our nation’s capitol.

My grandfather used to say, “If you don’t vote, you can’t complain.” So I will still vote this upcoming November. But I am tired of the same old, do nothing rhetoric.

    There, I feel better now.
