I chose #2 because I have watched my mother who has always been overweight, dieting her entire life. She never overeats.
Food additives have a lot to do with weight gain and difficulty in losing weight as well. She uses things like the frozen meals made by diet companies…horrible stuff that does not pass for food in my book. Loaded with additives that no one can pronounce with zero nutritional value. Just there to add taste to totally denatured food.
Both can be true as they relate to burning less than consumed. The latter statement relates to the metabolism-suppressed.
