She got turned down flat…

Here’s a salesperson who’s expert at getting people to turn her down flat – before they even hear her offer:

“Hi Kim:

“Last night I had a call trying to get me to promote my business through some online program.

“The lady on the line didn’t ask if I had time for the call, if I was busy, or if I was even interested in what she had. She rattled off a website for me to type in and fully expected me to stop everything and go to this site to see how her program would explode my sales. I politely told her she had caught me in the middle of dinner and I didn’t have time for her call.

“All I could think of was the Fuller Brush salesman taking a step back when the woman opens the door. If this lady had done this I might have asked for more info but since she never showed any consideration for my time or me I will not be looking into her deal.

“Thanks for the original post about the Fuller Brush salesman.”

The caller might have had a helpful program, but who will respond to her if that’s what she says (and does) to the people she calls?

What might the caller have said instead?

  • I totally agree with Robin. Would that person have showed consideration for my time, most likely I would have listened to what she had to offer.

Personally, I am always on the lookout for tools that make my life as a networker a bit more easy. However, I don’t have time for rude people, even if they have the wonder gadget.

I think it’s common curtesy to ask if the person we are calling “has a minute”. That should be one of the first thing we ask.

  • What if she used the things we’ve learned about Cadaver calling? I look in the local paper under for moms “for sale baby furniture”.

“Hi I’m Vicky T… a local business owner. I’m calling Mom’s in the Phoenix area, to ask a quick question and here it is?”(I pause & let them answer yes or no).

I love this approach because most are very curious say: “What’s the question?”(If they’re busy it’s an out for them.)

    But most have said yes…

Our first date scripts goes great here: I’m introducing a product for moms whos kids are picky eaters, just like my girls were and have tried everything to get their kids to eat more vegetables but nothing works. I found a way to get my girls to eat 30 fruits& veggies in a capsule. It’s a way eating veggies and not having to taste them. My girls have been eating them for 18 years and they’ve grown up very healthy. Do you know any moms that might like to know about a product like that?

It’s good practice for when we find someone good…plus I even met a grandma of a picky eater who said her grandson only eats pizza and referred her daughter:)
