Thanksgiving reading – in between the Game, Thanksgiving dinner, and napping…
We’ve all discovered most everyone says no to the business and product. Now what?!?
Three tips to find the right ones, from Diane Aull, a first rate marketing guru.
“One of my pet peeves is website owners who think they should target “everyone” with their website marketing. Look, I don’t care what you offer, “everyone” is not your target.
The truth is, no matter what you have to offer, it isn’t really for everyone. And the sooner you figure that out — and start focusing your efforts — the better you’ll do. Really!
I know it’s hard. You want to go after everybody, because you don’t want to leave any sales on the table. The fear is if you narrow your focus, you’ll miss potential customers.
I remember awhile back on one one of the discussion forums I frequent, a site owner asked for a review of his computer sales site. He insisted his product was intended for everyone…
But no matter how I tried to convince him Chinese toddlers, nomadic Masai herdsman and my technophobic mom were not among the target customers for his gaming-enhanced computers, he seemed to have trouble narrowing his focus past “everybody.”
Take the First Step: Identify Your Target AudienceWhen you try to target everybody, you usually end up appealing to nobody. You get generic, bland content in a generic, bland site. You won’t offend anybody, but you’ll likely not generate much excitement, either. So…” MORE HERE . (A more fun step coming up.)

I remembered when I first started with this MLM company that sells lotions, potions, and weight-loss products, my upline … let’s call her Briana Hype … asked me if I have visitors for tonight’s team call. I told her no. She then said “C’mon, you got to get with the program. Everyone needs to lose weight, everyone has a skin and need skin care and yada…yada…yada…” Invite your mom, sister, cousin, brother, friends, or practically all of them. I told her that I decided to lay off them because I already told them about it and was told it isn’t for them. I then left it at that.
When I purchased Ms Stud’s course, I learned how to identify my target audience. Why make 3s into aces when you can find aces on the card stack. It’s like me trying to get someone skinny to purchase weight-loss products or someone using a Mac to buy software for PC compatibles when there’s already one for the Mac…or selling sand to the Saudis.
I also learned that not everyone is interested in what product or service you provide. All they’re interested is in whether you can provide some product, service, or system that make their life better Part of the reason why focus on your audience and dump what your upline Briana Hype is telling you about reaching out to everybody.

What a great post! It’s a shame to see how much time is wasted in mlm. I see that quite a bit, esp. with distributors in the Melaleuca business. Thanks for sharing.
Warmly,
Diane
