Thursday is Old School New School day.

Old School: Press new recruits to buy the biggest package.

New School: Advise new recruits to start small.

Yes, selling big up front packages earns the recruiters more money faster.

But – they’re one time income shots so recruiters have to do it over and over and over.

Most new recruits discover getting those big orders is not as easy as it looks. Ninety-five percent of them end up red-faced, friendless, and with a garage full of stuff they can’t sell. See What if your product’s on eBay? and “Here is the TRUTH…” and the stories in the comments there.

The new school approach earns you money more slowly – because your new recruits start with smaller initial orders. But the upside is this: if you show them how to get customers, and a customer stays with the product, there is long term income to the new rep. Sometimes for years and years.

Chances are, you’ll keep your friends and have a place to go for Christmas dinner.

You decide how you want to build it. You are making a statement. What will it be?

  • It will also, in a lot of cases, leave the new distributor with a bit of cash left to invest in other ways into the business. It’s not just the signing up that costs money!

  • I’ll take long term auto-ship over the JOB of finding new people to front load any day.

Besides, think of how fewer bodies are left in your wake … who wants to be that lonely??

  • While I don’t advocate “pressing” new recruits to buy a huge start up package, I do advocate laying out all of the options. When I started a network marketing business, I was told to do 30 presentations with my start-up kit. However, my upline only told me about the smallest package which severely handicapped my business at first. I believe that when you lay out ALL of the options in an honest manner AND encourage/train your recruits to focus on CUSTOMERS then they can make an EDUCATED decision about the level of inventory they want to start with. I know the #1 and #2 complaints from CUSTOMERS in my business is they cannot find consultants and they don’t have product on hand when the customer wants/needs it.
