Example of MLM Spin I just got:
“I signed up 200 people in the first 90 days!”
Sounds good, thinks Lydia. “Give me those leads!” Or, “Sign me up under that person!” Or, “I want to be in THAT company!”
She buys the leads, signs up under whomever, or gets into whatever company.
Then Lydia learns the truth behind the spin. They’re as different as the spinners.
Spinner #1. No one paid anything to sign up. So far Katie, doing the spinning, has earned less than 97 cents on those sign-ups (yes).
Spinner #2. Only 3 are doing anything, confesses Tom. And they’re not doing much, yet.
There are hundreds more MLM spin variations.
Why do we feel the urge to give the impression that all is going SO well when most of us know inside that we’re clinging to our own spin?
What if we told it like it was, with our game plan, so no one would feel tricked or misled when they take a closer look, which most people with a brain will do?
Examples of non mlm spin lines, anyone?

Here’s an example of a non mlm spin line given to my teenage daughter recently.
“Oh come on – EVERYONE is doing it and it’s amazing!!”
This was about some new drug out there. Thankfully, she’s smart enough at 15 to know that’s not true and to say no.

I guess its an ignorance is bliss situation. My first company I had hundreds of people on one side but only the ones I brought in on the other – they called the big leg a power leg – If the big numbers are used as a selling point to prospects it is playing on the people’s vulnerability and naiievity, What would I do now?
1. My homework
2. Learn about the services or goods I am marketing so I can discuss them effectively.
2. Study the company’s business model, do my homework, decide how I am going to market my goods and services and concentrate on that for a period of time and realize there is no get rich scheme on the planet that lasts.
3. Start building my own customers and business builders not someone else’s and get to know the people who I am bringing in to my organization and head them in the direction they want to go based on hard work and trust.

Too scammy for me to believe a bunch of people would sign up in the first 90 days. I’m wondering, how would you be able to flock all those people in your front line? I don’t think anybody would want to have that kind of one-over-one relationship because it doesn’t last.
Does it matter if it’s MLM or not? If you’re unsure about signing up with someone because that person signed up 200 people in 90 days, or they said that they made $4,000 in sales in the first week of business, you better research it.
You just don’t befriend someone that quick and they will pretend to be your friend until you learned that they had an agenda and you as their tool after the fact. I had friends like that and now I being more careful not to let them pull a fast one.
Someone from Quixtar tried to recruit me used this tactic and hid everything until I was about to pay for the signup. When I I researched it, found out the truth, was able to take it apart, I decided to back out.
Before you sign up with someone that made such a claim like this one, be sure to take it apart first.

“I haven’t sponsored anyone in 10 months. Would you like to be the first?”

“You are welcome to take a look at my company if you like. I will be happy to answer any questions. If you would like to talk further, let me know.”

Since most of my deck of cards don’t have aces, I’m unable to sponsor anyone at all. Can you be my first ace???
LOL

Kim,
Spin a yarn, spin a tale, tell a little white lie, the whole world’s a stage, stretch the truth, shade the truth, exaggerate a little, just a little fib, just a bit overstated, an honest oversight, wardrobe failure, and how many more excuses does mankind come up with for not speaking the truth ?
Kim you stated earlier that if we were more truthful in our prospecting, that our numbers would droop, but our retention would rise. I don’t know how many MLMers could stand that and especially since the companies heavily reward recruitment with recognition and bonuses.
ANTI-SPIN:
“I am glad you asked. This is working well for my wife and I, maybe it could work for you too. What do you think?”
Not ‘spin’ proof,
Tom Doiron
“Do you think you could do that if someone who actually has accomplished it showed you how?”
